Fourteen Native American tribes in Southern California are now directly connected to the state-of-the-art International Internet Exchange, Pacific Wave, and its peering, high-performance scientific networks and ever-expanding global connectivity. Six more tribes are also expected to join in the coming months. This new connection enables tribal libraries, scientific research facilities, and cultural preservation institutions to collaborate with partners across the state, the nation, and the world.

CENIC Builds 400G Superchannel Between Los Angeles and Riverside

CENIC has built a 400 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) single-carrier optical circuit between Los Angeles and Riverside in California, one of the first-ever 400G superchannels to be deployed by a US regional research and education network. Construction included upgrading nodes in Los Angeles, Tustin, Oceanside, San Diego (home to the San Diego Supercomputer Center), Escondido, Sun City, and Riverside to 400G capabilities.

Cisco Expands 400G and 600G Trials with CENIC

CENIC tested both 400-Gbps and 600-Gbps waves on a live production network by upgrading their network infrastructure to flex spectrum ROADMs and the NCS 1004 with Cisco. These wavelengths will now enable the support of future network operational benefits to deliver 100-Gbps services over the CENIC optical backbone.
