BGP Information

The preferred routing protocol between associate and affilliate sites and the CalREN backbone is BGP. As an alternative, static routes can be used. CENIC does not do IGP routing to any associate or affiliate site. CENIC strongly prefers to make use of md5 authentication on BGP sessions.

In these documents, “CalREN participants” is defined as:

Charter Associates: Caltech, Stanford, USC, University of California, California State University, California Community Colleges, all K-12 Sites
Associates: Non-charter CalREN Associates as defined on the CENIC Community page
