CENIC, a nonprofit governed by its member K-12 schools, libraries, community colleges, universities, and other public-serving institutions, offers unique perspectives on the challenges and solutions surrounding broadband Internet in California and beyond. CENIC's mission statewide is to advance education and research by providing a world-class network essential for innovation, collaboration, and economic growth.

CENIC Perspectives are a series of editorial articles, authored by CENIC's CEO and other leaders from the research and education community, that outline steps to strengthen network infrastructure, increase access to broadband services, and support California's position as a global leader in scientific and technological innovation.

The Minds We Need: Federal Broadband Investment Should Include Research and Education Infrastructure

With contributions and endorsements from over 50 community participants and organizations, Internet2, CENIC, EDUCAUSE, and The Quilt provided support to publish The Minds We Need. The paper calls for federal investments in people, collaboration tools, and infrastructure to ensure the talent and potential of every mind has equal access to opportunity. This effort has received encouragement from many people and organizations across the research and education community.
