Wildfire Resources & Assistance

With the California wildfire season upon us, CENIC staff are prepared to assist members in the event of an internet outage.

Fires can bring down utility poles, damage fiber-optic cables, and cut off power, which may have adverse effects on internet connectivity in surrounding areas. In the event of an outage or a public safety power shutoff, CENIC’s Network Operations Center (NOC), which operates 24x7x365, will do whatever is within our power to alert sites to connectivity issues and to resolve them expeditiously, while working with the many telecommunications carriers that are our partners.

In case of any emergency, the CENIC NOC should be contacted using the same escalation procedures that your networking leads would use for any issue. Contact information and the escalation path for the CENIC NOC can be found at https://cenic.org/network/operations/noc-escalation. The NOC can be reached at any time at (714) 220-3494 or noc@cenic.org.

In the past, CENIC has leveraged partnerships with commercial providers to provide temporary internet connectivity for our members. In the event that your site requires a temporary connection, contact the NOC by emailing oper@cenic.org, attention Stanley Han.
