CENIC currently has openings for a senior technical leadership role and two network engineers.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Associate Director, Platform Engineering, is a senior technical leadership role responsible for overseeing CENIC’s platform engineering function, which combines software engineering, systems engineering, automation, tooling, and end-user engineering services.
This role provides strategic and technical leadership across teams responsible for designing, building, implementing, and supporting internal software platforms, network and systems tooling, automation frameworks, and infrastructure services that enable secure, scalable, and reliable operations across CENIC. The Senior Manager partners closely with engineering leadership, security, and stakeholders to align platform capabilities with organizational goals and operational needs.

CENIC is a nonprofit governed by its member K-12 schools, libraries, community colleges, universities, and other public-serving institutions. The Network Services team designs, plans, and implements changes across the networks operated by CENIC, including CalREN, which spans domains such as peering, DWDM, BGP, Segment Routing, EVPN, IS-IS, and automation. Our engineers also collaborate with our members on various research and education projects and connectivity upgrades, and also serve as an escalation point for the Operations team during challenging technical issues.
