CalREN Sites By Backbone Connection Nodes

The CalREN Backbone features 14 ultra-high-capacity node sites to which its members connect either directly or via intermediate “aggregation” sites, such as main libraries and county offices of education, which provide connectivity to CalREN for other endpoints through their own connection.

These backbone nodes are located throughout Northern California, the Bay Area, the California Central Coast, the Central Valley, and Southern California.

Below, you will find a list of the backbone node sites in each region and the member institutions that connect to each.  Note that in order to provide robust, resilient connectivity, the majority of institutions are connected to more than one backbone node. i.e., CSU Chico connects to both the Corning and the Sacramento node sites in the Northern region and the San Diego County Office of Education to both the Riverside and San Diego node sites in the Southern region.
