CENIC’s Network Operations Engineers have a long history of participation in the creation of SCinet, the global multi-terabit network built from the ground up to support the revolutionary participant demos that are the hallmark of the high-tech conference.
This year, CENIC Operations Engineer Ola Gamal will be participating as a member of the SCinet Wide Area Networking team. Gamal’s participation was funded by the Women in IT Networking at SC (WINS) program, created to fund highly qualified women, selected through a competitive application process.
Thanks to this program, Gamal will join a long and accomplished list of Network Operations Engineers from CENIC that have helped make SC the premiere showcase of ultra-high-performance networking possibilities for global research and education.
You can read more about this at the WINS website.
Now in its 15th year, the CENIC internship program has given more than 100 students hands-on training and real experience in advanced networking, developed in partnership with Cypress College’s Professor Ben Izadi, who was instrumental in its success.
At the recent CENIC 2026 biennial conference, a panel of national networking experts discussed what disaster response means for major research and education networks, including proactive planning to ensure that critical connections and services are maintained when needed most. The panel was moderated and led by Louis Fox, Chief Executive Officer of CENIC.
