Community Report 2019-2021

Over the past quarter of a century, CENIC has worked to build, secure, and expand the impact of its broadband networks; to encourage and showcase innovative uses of its networks; to improve broadband access and equity across California, and strengthen our organization.

In this report, you will read about our new initiative to extend middle-mile broadband infrastructure across California, major upgrades and enhancements to the network backbone, work to connect the last hardest-to-reach K-12 schools, outreach to extend connectivity to unserved and underserved areas during the COVID-19 pandemic; and a new service in cybersecurity.
You will also learn how we are addressing new challenges and taking advantage of new opportunities in our five-year strategic plan for 2019-2023. Finally, this report highlights how the staff works flexibly and nimbly to meet the needs of our members.

As our work evolves, CENIC’s mission remains unchanged: To connect California to the world — advancing education and research statewide by providing the world-class network essential for innovation, collaboration, and economic growth.
