In addition to the 100-Gbps backbone upgrade mentioned above, all CENIC segments are also enjoying significant upgrades to their connectivity as a result of activities which took place in the final quarter of 2014.
For California's public libraries, the [**San Joaquin Valley Library System**](http://www.sjvls.org/) received a Gigabit connection to the CalREN backbone node at Fresno. Gigabit connections were also provided to their constituent branches, but additional steps will need to be completed by the SJVLS in order for these branches to begin using their new connectivity to CalREN.
Both the Merced and Stanislaus County Offices of Education received 10-Gbps connectivity to the CalREN backbone node at Merced as part of the Central Valley Next-Generation Broadband Infrastructure Project (CVNGBIP). Various other connections between sites were completed as well, as a 10-Gbps connection is now in place between the Oakland Unified School District and the Alameda County Office of Education, and Gigabit connections between the Nevada Joint Union High School District and the Sierra County Office of Education, and the Loyalton High School and the CalREN backbone at Sacramento.
Several campuses of California's Community Colleges also received connectivity as part of the CVNGBIP, including West Hills College Lemoore and the College of the Sequoias, both of which now enjoy Gigabit connectivity to the CalREN backbone at Bakersfield, with West Hills College Lemoore enjoying diverse connectivity to this backbone node through Fresno and Hanford. In addition, two new Gigabit circuits are in place for Los Angeles Valley College.
Multiple 10-Gbps connections to the CalREN backbone were also provided to various campuses of the California State University including CSU San Bernardino to Riverside, CSU Los Angeles to both Tustin and Los Angeles, CSU Chico to Corning, CSU San Marcos to Riverside, CSU Stanislaus to Merced, and Sonoma State University to Sunnyvale. In addition to the above connections, CSU East Bay's Concord Campus also received a Gigabit connection directly to the CalREN backbone.
UC Merced also received a 10-Gbps connection to the CalREN backbone, and Stanford University received a 100-Gbps connection to the Sunnyvale backbone node.
