AT&T’s Government/Education West team, headed by Chris Congo, AT&T Executive Director, is being honored by the Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC) with the 2015 Innovations in Networking Award as Corporate Partner, the inaugural award for this category.

Thanks to the commitment of Congo’s team and their understanding of the importance of high-speed broadband for the research and education communities in California, AT&T Government/Education West and CENIC have been able to move forward on numerous initiatives in support of these communities, including network technology upgrades for the California Community College system and the AT&T Hosted VoIP Service in addition to their long history of support for all CENIC segments including K-12, libraries, and higher education.

“Chris Congo and the team at AT&T Government/Education West have long been valuable corporate allies on behalf of California research and education,” stated Louis Fox, President & CEO of CENIC. “Chris’ leadership and his team’s dedication has been instrumental in enabling us to bring the benefits of advanced networking to millions of Californians at their schools, libraries, colleges, and universities, and we look forward to a long future of collaboration with them to ensure that California remains at the global forefront of innovation in research and education.”

Innovations in Networking Awards are presented each year by CENIC to highlight the exemplary innovations that leverage ultra high-bandwidth networking, particularly where those innovations have the potential to revolutionize the ways in which instruction and research are conducted or where they further the deployment in underserved areas.
